Log 9 Materials is using its core competence in Graphene nanotechnology to develop advanced energy storage technologies from electrode materials, cell to pack level. Our Rapid Charging Battery packs (Read more) solve the challenges in adoption for the 2W and 3W electric vehicle platforms while our Aluminum Fuel Cell technology (Read more) is targeted towards the electrification of long haul, heavier vehicles.

Electrification of vehicles specially for commercial use ranging from 2W, 3W to LCVs to HCVs will not only have a significant positive impact on the environment, but it will lead to huge cost savings as well. However, different vehicle platforms have unique requirements and hence there cannot be a one-type fit all battery technology.

Key Requirements and Responsibilities:

We are looking for a Research Scholar to understand the various Battery Technologies that are presently available in the market and future expected technological advancements in the field. The candidate should have a deep understanding of the basics of different battery chemistry development and its segregation based on the properties exhibited by it or the use case for such chemistry. The candidate should have a keen analytical sense to draw critical conclusions based on the available information and should be capable to draw relevant information if not compiled otherwise.

  • Should be familiar with the platform and forums related to the technological advancements in the field
  • Lead our understanding of new energy storage and lithium-based technologies, keeping up with the necessary technological advancement in emerging technologies at the Lab, R&D and production scale.
  • Developing a holistic understanding of battery chemistries, quantify the impact of new materials on manufacturing cost, cell performance, emissions and material demand.
  • Evaluate existing technologies on the basis of technical parameters (energy/power density, cycle life) through a fundamental understanding of anode/cathode chemistry
  • Evaluation of Cell Form Factor-based analysis of different cell chemistries
  • Understanding the prevalent cathode chemistries and suggest modification based of available literature
  • Analyzing the suitable anodes options available for the specific cathodes
  • Understanding limitations of the battery technologies presently available in the market and suggesting possible improvements in the same.
  • Determine cathode product strategies and identify chemical and synthesis design spaces that address current and future customer needs.
  • Learn, establish, and leverage chemical design and synthesis rules to create cathodes with optimal composition, interfacial properties, morphology and electrochemical characteristics.
  • Produce industry research, both quantitative and qualitative, by building a network of research contacts and using public and proprietary data sources.
  • Understanding of the Battery Pack Assembly process.
  • Understanding of the Battery Industry Supply Chain.
  •  Effectively communicate findings by authoring and publishing research reports and datasets
  •  Act as a self-starter, have a high work rate and have the ability to work on parallel tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

Experience Qualifications required:

           Minimum of 4 years of experience in a relative field.

  • Advanced degree in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering or a related field, and/or substantial industry experience.
  • An understanding of lithium-ion batteries.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; comfortable with large datasets, making assumptions based on available evidence.
  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing) background or relevant work experience
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Rigorous attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
  • Work Experience in Battery Industry is an advantage
